This performance event marks the end of the GROUNDation Poetry Project. GROUNDation II: Poetry, Power, People engages men in prison with the library, literacy, creative writing and public presentations skills. Through active learning, dialogue, debate and expression through writing participants will develop a greater understanding and better relationships with themselves, each other, poetry and the library. Running alongside the prison workshops, a series of community workshops were also being held within the Wandsworth locality. Engaging those new to poetry and writers of sonnets alike, GPP aims to enhance the creative writing skills, literacy, public speaking and performance skills for participants.
This final performance event is to be held in HMP Wandsworth’s Visits Hall. It will bring together all the participants from the prison and the community in a creative exchange of ideas. In addition, there will be thrilling performances by spoken word poets, Joelle Taylor and Kayo Chingonyi.
