Safe Ground - Using drama to educate prisoners and young people at risk in the community

GROUNDation Poetry Project Workshop with TY

Community event

February 9, 2015

HMP Wandsworth
Heathfield Road
SW18 3HS

8.30am - 11.30am

The fourth and last but by no means least of a four poetry workshop series in HMP Wandsworth running in parallel with workshops being run in the local community. The aim is to engage men in prison with the library, literacy, creative writing and public presentations skills. Through active learning, dialogue, debate and expression through writing participants will develop a greater understanding and better relationships with themselves, each other, poetry and the library.

There will be an end-of-project performance event on Wednesday 4th March 2015 called GROUNDation II: Poetry, Power, People, to be held in the prison, that will bring participants from the community and the prison together in a creative exchange. In addition a hand crafted limited edition book of poetry featuring the work of both community and prison participants will be published Summer 2015.
