Safe Ground - Using drama to educate prisoners and young people at risk in the community

Interview with Dean Atta after poetry workshops at London South Bank University

On Thursday 6th November 2014 as part of Safe Ground’s GROUNDation Poetry Project spoken word artist, poet and playwright, Dean Atta, held two poetry workshops at London South Bank University with second year creative writing students. Here he tells us a little bit about his experience.

All the poetry workshops that are part of the GROUNDation Poetry Project will culminate in our end-of-project performance event GROUNDation II: Poetry, Power, People, where the participants from inside the prison and the outside in the local community will meet for the first time in a creative exchange, sharing the poetry they have created and engaging in challenging discussions. To help us make this event the professional and spectacular affair that reflects the level of poetry created please donate toward our crowdfunding campaign here.
